Five Oaks- 4100 Five Oaks, Hickory Downs, Five Oaks Lakeside and Farrington
Five Oaks is a planned unit neighborhood located in southwest Durham North Carolina. There are five separate associations and four separate communities within the Five Oaks subdivision. The four communities are 4100 Five Oaks, Hickory Downs, Five Oaks Lakeside and Farrington.
There are approximately two hundred eighty townhouses and condominiums in Five Oaks with approximately 20 detached homes. There is no association for the detached homes and detached homes do not have to join FORA. FORA is the Five Oaks Recreational Association, which has a junior Olympic swimming pool, volley ball courts, basketball courts, a lake, gym, large screen television room, dog park, tennis courts and Yoga studio. Five Oaks is seven miles to Duke, five miles to UNC and 10 miles to RTP.
4100 Five Oaks is approximately seven miles to Duke University and seven miles to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Raleigh/Durham International Airport is fifteen minutes away via I-40 and the city of Raleigh is a short twenty minute drive away. Hickory Downs is a community of condominiums which was built in the mid to late 1980s. Stylistically the homes are transitional with a mid century contemporary flair. Units range in size from two bedrooms at about 1400 heated and cooled square feet up to four bedrooms with just about 1900 square feet. This community is on a common water meter so home owner's dues covers water and sewer and exterior care. Dues are on a sliding scale based on the size of individual units. Owners in Hickory Downs are required to be members of FORA.
Farrington is the smallest community within Five Oaks. Townhomes in this community is characterized by fully fenced rear yards and individual parking areas. The homes have a detached property feel.
Five Oaks Lakeside is the largest community within the Five Oaks subdivision. Five Oaks Lakeside is characterized by it's location on the Five Oaks Lake. Town homes in this section of the neighborhood range in size from one bedroom units with second story loft space at just over 1100 square feet to 1700 square foot units with three bedrooms and two and a half baths. The newest town houses in the neighborhood can be found in "Lakeside" and these units have attached one car garages. Lakeside owners are required to join FORA
